Movie Previews for My PHP FACine Assignments Summary

Okay, this would just be a summary of the this I wrote for my assignment in Pinoy Harry Potter/ Hogwarts Philippines' FACine class.

Our assignments must be posted in Wordpress. But as you notice, I'm using blogger. Therefore, I have to create an account in wordpress.

The first assignment I did for the class was about "The last film you saw". For this assignment, I did a review for This Guys in Love with You Pare.

The next assignment was entitled "Hate Much?" This is a follow-up question in our introduction saying "a film that should cease existence from this planet". I actually don't hate the movie/s I indicated as my answer. But I'm begging the producer of this film to please stop producing one every year.

And by the way, I am referring to Shake, Rattle, & Roll Horror Film Series.

As what I've said to my to my entry, "when time come that the entire MMFF film entries are horror films, I would really blame the entire thing to Shake, Rattle, & Roll." For the whole review, your may refer here.

For the recent assignment I did, it was about "The Filipino in Me". The concept of this assignment is to write down 5 movies you wanted to see. Actually, the five movies I have in mind was Bata, Bata, Pa'no ka Ginawa, Magnifico, Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Olivero, Ded na si Lolo, and Bwakaw. But because we cannot repeat a movie as an answer, I ended up having Ligo na U, Lapit na Me, instead of Bwakaw.

The Kitchen Musical: FIlipino Casts

Talking about being proud to be a Filipino? This musical TV series, The Kitchen Musical, which is shoot in Singapore got a pack of Filipinos on its casting. But aside for its cast, Gerard Salonga, a Filipino of course, plays a big role in this series being the man behind each song the show will play as its Musical Director.

The Filipino Casts

Karylle
She plays the role of Maddie Avilon. The restaurant owner's daughter. She's a fresh graduate and struggles to show case her own ideas and creativity after landing as sous chef in her father's restaurant. Unfortunately, she is under the supervision of the head chef, Alex Marcus.

Christian Bautista
Playing the role of Daniel Ray, he is also a sous chef of the restaurant and a childhood friend of Maddie Avilon.

Arthur Acuña
He portrays the role of Harry Shaw, The Avilon's general manager. He knows the motives of Maddie's father of letting her work in their restaurant but he keeps it as a secret to Maddie.

Joseph "Thou" Reyes
He is known as Thou Reyes here in the Philippines and it is his name as well in this musical TV series. He plays as a line cook for The Avilon.

Ikey Canoy
Another supporting character in The Kitchen Musical and he plays the role of Winston a pastry chef.

By the way, is it just me or what? The production wasn't that creative in giving names, are they? Nevermind though. As fas as I know, I did enjoy the Behind the Scene as well the the premier episode of The Kitchen Musical which was aired in ABS-CBN's Sunday's Best.

So for those who wants to be able to watch the whole season, it will be aired on Studio23 every Saturday at 7:30-8:30PM starting October 8. While AXN will air this show in 19 countries around Asia.

Cinemalaya's Ang Babae sa Septic Tank (The Woman in the Septic Tank)

After a 5years, following Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros by Auraeus Solito which gained the curiosity of the Filipinos to Independent Film, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank by Marlon Rivera made another mark not just in the film industry.

For those who haven't watched the film in Cinemalaya, you still have a chance to witness the wonder of this film after winning 5 major awards in Cinemalaya.

It shows the reality. Not just the poverty which is often made as the subject for a Filipino Indie film but the reality in making a film as well. The hardships the production may encounter, the demands of the actors for the films, and the unexpected events that they might encounter.

Starring Ms. Eugene Domingo who won the Best Actress award for the film, with Kean Cipriano, JM De Guzman, and Cai Cortez. With special participation of Cherry Pie Picache and Marcedes Cabral (also part of another Cinemalaya entry, Ligo na ü, Lapit na me).

Ang Babae sa Septic Tank chronicles a day in the life of three ambitious, passionate but misguided filmmakers as they set out to do a quick pre-prod at Starbucks, a courtesy call to their lead actress, Eugene Domingo, and an ocular inspection of their film’s major location, the Payatas dumpsite. Director Rainier, Producer Bingbong and Production Assistant Jocelyn are well-to-do, well-educated film school graduates who are dead set on making an Oscar worthy film. They believe they have a winning script, the energy and the drive to make their dreams come true. Like most filmmakers they know, they have devised a screenplay that will show the real essence of our culture: poverty. In the course of one day, they brainstorm and exhaust all possible treatment of their project: the story of Mila (Eugene Domingo), a mother from the slums, who out of desperation to survive, has sold her child to a pedophile. As they discuss the possible executions of the story, the movie-within-a-movie gets reborn in Jocelyn’s imagination several times. As a gritty no frills neo-realist film, as a glossy musical, as an over-the-top melodrama and as a docu drama using non-actors. For their last task of the day, they visit the dumpsite for the first time. As filmmakers gunning for authenticity, they get excited with the ”beauty” of the squalor around them. New set of movies for 2011

After the compulsory period of MMFF or Metro Manila Film Festival to have a non-foreign movie in Philippine theaters between December 25 to January 7, foreign films are already available again in cinemas and films you'll be waiting this year.

Chronicle of Narnia and the Dawn Treader

SYNOPSIS: The film is set three years after the events of the previous film in Narnia, and one year in England. The two youngest Pevensie siblings, Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley), are transported back to Narnia along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb (Will Poulter). They join the new king of Narnia, Caspian (Ben Barnes), in his quest to rescue seven lost lords to save Narnia from a corrupting evil that resides on a dark island. Each character is tested as they journey to the home of the great lion Aslan at the far end of the world.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part1

	Gulliver's Travels
	SYNOPSIS: Travel writer Lemuel Gulliver takes an assignment in Bermuda, but ends up on the island of Liliput, where he towers over its tiny citizens.

Little Fockers

SYNOPSIS: It has taken 10 years, two little Fockers with wife Pam (Polo) and countless hurdles for Greg to finally get "in" with his tightly wound father-in-law, Jack. After the cash-strapped dad takes a job moonlighting for a drug company, however, Jack's suspicions about his favorite male nurse come roaring back. 	SYNOPSIS: Revolves around Frank, an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart. Elise is an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path.

Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard

SYNOPSIS: In 1963, 13-year-old Arthur stays with his grandparents in the holidays. He is befriended with a Maasai-like tribe called the Bogo Matassalai and with the Minimoys, tooth-sized, elfin beings, who all live there in the garden. The Bogo Matassalai grant Arthur a distinction regarding being one with nature, after succeeding in a series of tests, such as hugging a tree for hours, sleeping with a wild animal, and eating grass. The Bogo Matassalai are capable of transforming a person to a Minimoy. It is only possible every tenth full moon, at midnight. Arthur is about to undergo this procedure, to visit the Minimoys (who are expecting him and preparing a party for him), and especially the Minimoys' princess Selenia. A spider delivers to Arthur a grain of rice with the message "help", which must come from the Minimoys, and makes it even more important for him to visit them. Arthur's father wants to kill bees, since Arthur is allergic to the stings. However, his grandfather Archibald objects because of his respect for nature. Therefore Arthur's father wants to take him home earlier than planned. At a gas station Arthur escapes from the car and returns to his grandparents' house. The Bogo Matassalai attempt to transform him using a telescope, but this method fails due to clouds covering the full moon. Therefore Arthur asks the Bogo Matassalai to apply the alternative method, even though it is more dangerous. They agree. Arthur is wound into ropes, which are pulled more and more tight. The procedure is successful. In the end Selenia and Arthur share a kiss before Maltazard explains. It turns out that Maltazard sent the message to lure Arthur, so that Maltazard can use the passage back, which is available at the next noon. Thus he arrives in the world of humans, enlarged to their size. He is pleased to see that animals are afraid of him. Arthur is stuck in small size in the Minimoy kingdom, because the telescope to be used for his return has been destroyed by the passage of Maltazard. This could mean that he can only return after ten months. The film ends abruptly, with the sound of The Minimoys Band singing "Poker Face", with the hook "ma-ma-ma-ma" in the opening of the song is replaced by "ma-ma-ma-ma... Maltazard". The plot is continued in the following film, Arthur and the War of Two Worlds. The teaser at the end of the film shows a human Arthur being pursued by Maltazard's soldiers in a grocery store, who he trips up by tipping a display of oranges down the aisle.

	SYNOPSIS: By night, debonair newspaper publisher Britt Reid fights crime as a masked superhero known as The Green Hornet. At his side is martial arts expert Kato.

Yogi Bear

SYNOPSIS: Jellystone Park is celebrating its 100 anniversary, however it may be for the last time, because attendance is down and Mayor Brown wants to close the park and sell the land. If the park is closed, Yogi Bear and Boo Boo will lose their home. They join forces with Ranger Smith to save Jellystone from closing forever. Yogi must really prove in this endeavor that he is "smarter than the average bear".

	The Warriors Way
	SYNOPSIS: A warrior-assassin is forced to hide in a small town in the American Badlands after refusing a mission.

Seasons of the Witch

SYNOPSIS: A 14th century Crusader returns to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence. A priest, a grieving knight, a disgraced itinerant and a headstrong youth who can only dream of becoming a knight join a mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl. When the embattled party arrives at the abbey, a horrific discovery jeopardises the knight's pledge to ensure the girl fair treatment, and pits them against an inexplicably powerful and destructive force.

Love and Other Drugs

Inside Job

SYNOPSIS: 'Inside Job' is the first film to provide a comprehensive analysis of the global financial crisis of 2008, which at a cost over $20 trillion, caused millions of people to lose their jobs and homes in the worst recession since the Great Depression, and nearly resulted in a global financial collapse. It was made on location in the United States, Iceland, England, France, Singapore, and China.

	The Rite
	SYNOPSIS: Inspired by true events, “The Rite” follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak, who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas, who introduces him to the darker side of his faith.

Priest

SYNOPSIS: "Priest", a post-apocalyptic sci fi thriller, is set in an alternate world -- one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany) from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. 	Beastly
	SYNOPSIS: Kyle Kingson has it all - looks, intelligence, wealth and opportunity - and a wicked cruel streak. Prone to mocking and humiliating "aggressively unattractive" classmates, he zeroes in on Goth classmate Kendra, inviting her to the school's extravagant environmental bash. Kendra accepts, and, true to form, Kyle blows her off in a particularly savage fashion.

The 36th Metro Manila Film Festival

Every year during Christmas break, Metro Manila Film Festival showcase an all-Filipino Films, where, no Foreign Films are allowed to be screened on Philippine theaters during a certain time. And they are already at its 36th year.

Gabi ng Parangal or the Awards Night was held last last December 26, 2010.

Showtime Dec.3 Episode

A group from Laoag City gave me a goose bumps. They're group is so grand that even Showtime's guest co-host Nikki Gil that the performance they made could be leveled for a Grand Finals performance piece.

This will be my first blog for this site. I am thinking of what will be exactly the first thing I will write and PHOOFFF!!! Here they are, telling me to share to the entire cyberspace about their talent.
